The training is designed for people who support the wellbeing of others, including:
Learn a simple 20-minute therapeutic hand massage that participants can take back into their workplace and use to offer another form of support, connection and care.
Explore practical life skills and neuroscience-informed approaches that can support calm, emotional regulation, self-awareness and resilience during high-stress moments.
Give your team another way to connect with the people they support, while creating opportunities for greater empathy, care and human connection within your organisation.
Everyone who completes the training becomes an A Touch of Gentleness Ambassador, with ongoing support to bring the approach into their workplace and everyday interactions.
By taking part, your organisation also becomes part of our wider Ambassador community, connecting with others who share a commitment to bringing more gentleness, connection and wellbeing into the lives of those they support. Ambassadors also have the opportunity to join our voluntary outreach and community work.
The training combines practical skills, reflection and experiential learning across four key areas:
Gentleness is not softness, it is strength wrapped in peace. Explore how gentleness can support emotional safety, reduce reactivity and help create calmer interactions, for yourself and those around you.
Develop listening skills that allow you to offer support without judgement. Learn how to identify when to hold space, when to signpost and how presence can deepen trust and connection.
Delve into the emotional and physiological benefits of caring touch and learn how to offer a simple 20-minute therapeutic hand massage. As well as support overall wellbeing, it has proven to reduce anxiety, support sleep, relieve pain and tension, and enhance wellbeing
Explore safeguarding awareness, reflective practice and practical guidance for introducing therapeutic touch and compassionate connection safely within your organisation.
We have delivered this training to staff across diverse settings, including NHS hospitals, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Children’s Hospices, Care Homes, Recovery Hubs and Community Support Teams.
By offering another form of support that doesn’t necessarily require words, the training can be particularly valuable for people working in high-pressure or emotionally demanding environments.
Participants have reported improvements in:
“The ambassador training day has brought so much more cohesion and meaningful connection to our staff... we listen with increased gentle presence as we offer the hand massages to our patients and to members of the staff who benefit enormously from the relaxation and ‘reset’ which this soothing connection offers. With this enhanced ability to provide evidence-based, holistic care that significantly improves patient and staff experiences and outcomes in the work in the ITU has become an ever more enjoyable place to be. We are proud to partner with A Touch of Gentleness.”

When you partner with us, you become part of something bigger.
Everyone who completes our In-House Training becomes an A Touch of Gentleness Ambassador, taking their skills back into their organisation and helping to create more opportunities for connection, calm and compassionate care.
Ambassadors can also choose to join our voluntary outreach and community work, sharing the gift of gentleness with people and communities who may benefit from it most.
To date, we’ve partnered with over 70 organisations, charities and communities, including care homes, prisons, refugee communities and people experiencing homelessness. We’ve also attended hundreds of local events.
Although we never want cost to be a barrier, income from our In-House Training and other fundraising events, workshops and training helps make our free volunteer training and community service possible.
